On the historic stretch of Commerce Street just steps from the celebrated River Walk in downtown San Antonio, the LEGOLAND Discovery Center is the international chain's newest North American venue, opened in May 2022 at the Shops at Rivercenter shopping mall. The centre occupies more than 30,000 square feet of bright, interactive space packed with LEGO-themed rides, model displays, hands-on building areas and family entertainment, all geared toward children aged three through ten and their families. The centre's headline attraction is the MINILAND, a meticulously crafted recreation of San Antonio and south-central Texas's most recognisable landmarks built from more than 1.5 million LEGO bricks. Featured pieces include the iconic Alamo Mission, the Tower of the Americas, the historic San Fernando Cathedral, the Pearl Brewery district, the AT&T Center home of the San Antonio Spurs and a recreation of the River Walk itself, complete with miniature LEGO barges gliding past hundreds of tiny diners. A series of family-friendly rides anchors the attraction. The Kingdom Quest ride is a low-speed interactive shooting experience where families team up to defeat virtual villains in a medieval castle, while the Merlin's Apprentice ride lets young guests power a small carousel of flying chairs by pedalling. A LEGO 4D Cinema runs short, family-friendly films enhanced with weather and wind effects. Building activity areas include the LEGO City Forest Pursuit play structure, the LEGO Friends area featuring popular characters from the line, the Build & Test studio where engineering principles are introduced through speed-racer competitions, the LEGO Master Builder Academy and the LEGO Ninjago Laser Maze testing guests' agility through a corridor of moving laser beams. A cafe, a LEGO retail shop and a small soft-play area cater to a leisurely full-day visit. The convenient downtown location makes the venue an easy pairing with a stroll along the River Walk and a visit to the Alamo.
