Dubai Miracle Garden

Unspecified/General

In the Al Barsha South 3 area of inland Dubai about 30 minutes south-east of the central downtown business district, Dubai Miracle Garden is the largest outdoor flower garden in the world and one of the most heavily visited seasonal attractions in the broader United Arab Emirates. The 72,000-square-metre garden first opened on Valentine's Day 2013 and has operated each year as a seasonal attraction during the cooler November-through-May season, with the entire garden substantially redesigned and replanted at the beginning of each new season. The garden hosts more than 150 million individual flowering plants at peak season, representing one of the largest single concentrations of cultivated flowering plants anywhere on the planet. The bulk of the resident plantings are seasonal annual flowers including petunias, marigolds, geraniums and pansies, with the broader collection supplemented by several hundred thousand perennial flowering plants and several thousand individual flowering shrubs and small flowering trees. The plantings are organised into more than 50 distinct themed installations, each occupying a substantial section of the broader site and each redesigned annually to provide new visual experiences for returning visitors. The principal installations include the dramatic Emirates A380 flower display (a full-scale 73-metre-long, 24-metre-tall sculptural recreation of an Emirates Airbus A380 aircraft entirely covered in living flowering plants, included in the Guinness World Records as the world's largest floral installation), the celebrated Floral Castle (an 18-metre-tall castle structure built entirely from living flowering plants), several large heart-shaped installations, several large clock-shaped installations, several umbrella-themed walking arcades and dozens of smaller themed sculptures. The garden also includes a small section dedicated to the popular Smurf Village (a recreation of the cartoon Smurf village built from living flowering plants), the dramatic Lake Park area (a small artificial lake surrounded by mature palm groves and small floating flower displays), the popular Animal Kingdom area (with floral animal sculptures including a giraffe, an elephant, a peacock and a butterfly garden) and the Children's Play Park (a small dedicated playground area for younger visitors). The adjacent Dubai Butterfly Garden, immediately accessible from the principal Miracle Garden entrance, operates as a separately ticketed companion attraction. The garden operates daily during the seasonal operating period.
