Etihad Towers - Observation Deck at 300

Unspecified/General

On the 74th floor of Tower 2 of the Etihad Towers complex on the West Corniche of central Abu Dhabi immediately opposite the celebrated Emirates Palace Hotel, the Observation Deck at 300 is the highest publicly accessible observation deck in the broader Abu Dhabi region and one of the highest single observation venues anywhere in the broader United Arab Emirates outside the Burj Khalifa's 124th-floor observation deck. The 300-metre-high observation deck opened on 22 May 2014, occupying a dedicated visitor space on the 74th floor of the 305-metre Tower 2 (the second-tallest of the five Etihad Towers). The Etihad Towers complex itself is one of the most architecturally distinctive multi-tower developments in the broader Abu Dhabi region. The five interlocking towers, designed by the celebrated Australian-American architectural firm DBI Design and completed in May 2011, range in height from 220 metres (Tower 5) through 305 metres (Tower 2). The dramatic curved-glass exterior facades and the elaborate geometric crown features at the tops of each tower combine to produce one of the most heavily photographed sections of the broader Abu Dhabi skyline. The Observation Deck at 300 provides 360-degree panoramic views from a single curved observation gallery that wraps continuously around the central elevator core. Floor-to-ceiling glass on all exterior surfaces provides unobstructed views in every direction. Looking north and east, the views encompass the broader central Abu Dhabi business district including the celebrated Marina Mall, the celebrated Heritage Village and the dramatic central downtown skyline. Looking south, the views extend across the broader Abu Dhabi Island and the surrounding Persian Gulf coastline. The observation gallery includes several interactive interpretive features including a continuously updated weather station display, an interactive touch-screen panoramic identification system that identifies the various visible buildings and landmarks, a small refreshment bar and a substantial themed retail space. The popular high tea service (presented daily during afternoon hours) provides a substantial afternoon tea experience with the dramatic Abu Dhabi panorama as the central visual focus. The observation deck is also widely promoted as the location used for the celebrated 2015 Fast and Furious 7 sequence in which Vin Diesel and Paul Walker's sports car launches between the Etihad Towers' upper floors, with the visible bullet hole in the observation deck's eastern panoramic window preserved as a discreet visitor curiosity.
