In the City of Arabia district of inland Dubai along Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road about 25 minutes south-east of central downtown, IMG Worlds of Adventure is the largest indoor theme park in the world and one of the most ambitious indoor entertainment venues ever constructed. The 1.5-million-square-foot indoor park opened on 31 August 2016 at a total construction cost of approximately 1 billion dollars, the result of a substantial private development by the Dubai-based Ilyas and Mustafa Galadari Group. The park's extraordinary size is its defining characteristic. The single continuous indoor structure houses some 28 individual rides, themed walking environments and entertainment venues across a single climate-controlled volume large enough to accommodate the entire surrounding southern Dubai suburb. The interior building height ranges from 16 metres in the principal entrance plaza through 38 metres at the central themed-zone hubs, with the resulting interior volume substantially exceeding that of most outdoor theme parks of comparable attendance. The park is organised around four principal themed zones, each occupying a substantial dedicated section of the broader interior space. The Marvel zone is the largest of the four and features themed rides and walking environments based on the broader Marvel Cinematic Universe characters and storylines. The principal Marvel rides include the dramatic Avengers Battle of Ultron 4D ride, the Spider-Man Doc Ock's Revenge ride and the Hulk Epsilon Base 3D dark ride. The Cartoon Network zone features themed rides and environments based on the broader Cartoon Network animated television properties including The Powerpuff Girls, Ben 10, Adventure Time and Lazytown. The Lost Valley zone features dinosaur-themed environments including the popular Velociraptor inverted roller coaster (with a 1.5g maximum acceleration force). The IMG Boulevard zone serves as the principal central commercial and dining area, with extensive themed retail and restaurant spaces. The fourth principal zone, the Novo Cinemas section, occupies a substantial dedicated section housing the largest indoor cinema complex in the broader Dubai region. The park is open daily with standard day-pass admission providing unlimited access to all attractions.
