Mushrif Park

Unspecified/General

Mushrif Park spreads across 525 hectares in the Mirdif district of eastern Dubai, ranking among the oldest and largest public parks in the city since opening in 1974. The park began as a small picnic ground developed in the era of Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum and has expanded through successive renovations to incorporate woodland trails, formal gardens, an amphitheatre, swimming pools, sports courts and educational pavilions. A 7.5 kilometre cycle track loops through native ghaf and acacia woodland, with shaded rest stops every kilometre and several drinking water stations. Bicycle rentals are available at the main entrance, including tandems, family quad cycles and child seats. Separate male and female swimming pools operate during cooler months, with changing rooms, snack kiosks and lifeguards on duty. The horse and camel riding zone offers guided rides along marked trails through the woodland, with veteran handlers walking alongside younger riders. Birdwatchers visit for the resident populations of grey francolin, Indian roller, pallid scops owl and migratory raptors that pass through during winter. A miniature international houses exhibit recreates traditional dwellings from across the world, including a Russian dacha, a Saudi mudbrick fortress, a Chinese pagoda and an Emirati barasti hut, providing an educational walk that combines architecture with comparative culture studies. The amphitheatre hosts seasonal concerts and family entertainment events, and several open lawns accommodate large barbecue gatherings with permanent grills and shaded ramada seating. Wedding venues within the park can be booked through Dubai Municipality, and a dedicated children's playground area features climbing structures, water sprays and shaded benches for guardians. Entry is charged per vehicle on weekends and per person on weekdays, with separate gates assigned to families and single male visitors as is standard practice across Dubai parks year-round throughout the cooler months.
