SeaWorld Abu Dhabi

Unspecified/General

Opened in May 2023 on Yas Island, SeaWorld Abu Dhabi ranks as the largest indoor marine-life theme park in the world, housed within a structure rising eight storeys around a central 20 million litre aquarium. The park represents the first SeaWorld built outside the United States and the brand's first new-generation facility designed without orcas, reflecting a shift in the company's conservation-focused direction. The building is organised around five themed realms representing the planet's major marine environments, with a sixth zone dedicated to the One Ocean centrepiece tank that holds the largest collection of marine species in the region. Visitors descend through the realms of the Endless Ocean, the tropics, the polar regions and the deep abyss, encountering more than 150 species across 100,000 marine animals including sharks, rays, sea turtles, penguins, dolphins, sea lions and an enormous shoal of fish circulating the central tank. Rides and immersive experiences are woven throughout, including a roller coaster, a flume ride and motion-based attractions that blend live animal viewing with digital effects. Adjacent to the park sits the Yas SeaWorld Research and Rescue centre, a 15,000 square metre facility dedicated to marine research, animal rescue, rehabilitation and the study of the Arabian Gulf ecosystem, operating as a permanent scientific institution rather than a guest attraction. Educational programming runs throughout the park, with naturalists stationed at exhibits and behind-the-scenes tours available as premium add-ons. The fully climate-controlled environment allows comfortable year-round visits regardless of the outdoor heat. Dining and retail outlets are distributed across the realms, and the park connects to the wider Yas Island cluster that includes Ferrari World, Warner Bros World and Yas Waterworld, all reachable on foot or by the island's free shuttle network throughout the day. Annual passes and combination tickets covering the neighbouring Yas Island parks are available, and the venue runs structured educational programmes for schools alongside its conservation messaging throughout the year.
