Córdoba Ecuestre

Unspecified/General

Staged within the historic Royal Stables of Cordoba, Cordoba Ecuestre presents a spectacular equestrian show celebrating the Andalusian horse and the centuries-old traditions of Spanish horsemanship. The Caballerizas Reales, the Royal Stables, were founded in 1570 by King Philip II, who established them beside the Alcazar with the express purpose of breeding and refining the Spanish horse, and it was here that the celebrated Pure Spanish Breed, the Pura Raza Espanola, was developed, making the site one of the birthplaces of one of the world's most admired horse breeds. The atmospheric stables, with their vaulted stone halls and columns, provide a fitting historic setting for the show. The performance, titled Passion and Spirit of the Andalusian Horse, combines dressage, classical riding, the distinctive movements of high-school equestrianism and displays of horsemanship with flamenco music and dance, uniting two of the great cultural traditions of Andalusia in a single production. Riders and horses perform intricate choreographed routines demonstrating the grace, power and discipline of the trained Andalusian horse, accompanied by live flamenco guitar, song and dance that heighten the drama and emotion of the spectacle. The show celebrates the deep bond between horse and rider and the artistry of a tradition refined over centuries. Beyond the performances, the stables can be visited to see the horses and learn about their breeding and training. The combination of a magnificent breed, classical horsemanship, flamenco and a historic setting makes the experience a distinctive cultural attraction. Located beside the Alcazar within the UNESCO-listed historic centre of Cordoba and easily reached on foot, Cordoba Ecuestre draws visitors interested in horses, flamenco and Andalusian culture throughout the year across every season of the calendar. Tickets for the show and stable visits can be booked in advance, and the combination of a magnificent breed, classical horsemanship, flamenco and a historic royal setting makes the experience one of the most distinctive cultural attractions in the city throughout the year across every season of the calendar.
