Summit Ally Pally

Unspecified/General

Billed as the highest rooftop walk in the United Kingdom, Summit Ally Pally is a guided aerial adventure that leads harnessed visitors across the roof of the historic Alexandra Palace in north London to take in panoramic views of the capital. Opened in 2026, the experience was created by the team behind several other celebrated height-based attractions around the country, and it adds a thrilling new dimension to a landmark that has stood above the city for more than a century and a half. Groups are first led to a balcony beneath the palace's famous rose window, where they are fitted with safety harnesses before stepping out onto the roof and climbing a series of steps to the apex of the building, beside the statue known as the Angel of Plenty. From this vantage point, around a hundred and thirty metres above sea level, climbers enjoy an uninterrupted three hundred and sixty degree view said to extend some twenty-five miles across London, taking in distant landmarks such as the great cathedral dome, the towering glass shard and the cluster of skyscrapers in the financial districts. A guide shares the history of the palace and points out the sights as the group pauses at the top, and the whole experience lasts about an hour. Daytime, sunset and after-dark climbs are offered, each giving a different mood to the view, and the attraction is suitable for accompanied children above a minimum age. Tickets must be booked online in advance, and climbs run throughout the year across the seasons of the calendar. The experience requires a reasonable level of mobility and a head for heights, with all safety equipment provided and expert guides ensuring a steady, secure ascent suitable for first-timers as well as the more adventurous. Many visitors combine the climb with time spent in the surrounding parkland, which extends across nearly two hundred acres and offers cafes, gardens and the other attractions of the palace, turning the visit into a full day out. By offering a fresh and exhilarating perspective on a much-loved landmark and on the sprawling capital beyond, the rooftop walk has quickly established itself among the city's more distinctive attractions, appealing to thrill-seekers, photographers and families looking for an unusual way to take in the skyline throughout the year across the seasons.
