AltitudeX

The sensation of freefall without ever leaving the ground awaits at AltitudeX, the indoor skydiving centre on Sentosa that operates one of the largest themed vertical wind tunnels in the world. Long known as iFly Singapore, the facility opened in 2011 and rebranded under its new homegrown name in late 2025, but its core attraction remains unchanged, a towering glass-walled flight chamber in which a powerful upward column of air lifts flyers off their feet and holds them suspended, recreating the rush of a parachute jump in complete safety. The chamber itself is a remarkable structure, more than fifty feet tall and ringed with glass that frames sweeping views of the sea on three sides, so that flyers seem to soar against a backdrop of open water and sky. The experience is designed to be accessible to almost anyone, from nervous first-timers as young as seven to seasoned skydivers honing their technique, and no aircraft, parachute or prior experience is required. A typical visit runs around ninety minutes, beginning with a briefing and a short training session in which an instructor teaches the body position needed to fly stably, before flyers are kitted out in a jumpsuit, helmet and goggles and led into the tunnel for a series of flights, each lasting about a minute but feeling far longer amid the roar of the wind. A certified instructor flies alongside throughout, steadying and guiding the novice and, for the more confident, sending them spinning and rising high up the tunnel. The centre holds an array of safety accreditations and world records, and has trained champion competitors as well as entertained millions of casual visitors. Conveniently located among the beaches and attractions of Sentosa, AltitudeX offers a safe, weatherproof and genuinely thrilling taste of human flight, an exhilarating experience that sends first-timers and enthusiasts alike floating, quite literally, on air. The attraction leans on a combination of height, motion and visual trickery to unsettle the senses, and staff guide visitors through each stage so that even the hesitant can take part at their own pace. It tends to appeal to younger crowds and groups looking for a short burst of adrenaline rather than a leisurely outing, and its setting makes it an easy add-on to a day spent exploring the surrounding district.
