Recently relocated on 25 January 2026 to a new five-hundred-square-metre exhibition space at Rua Duque de Palmela 25B near the Marques de Pombal square in central Lisbon, the 3D Fun Art Museum Lisboa is one of the principal interactive optical illusion attractions in the Portuguese capital. The museum presents around forty individual three-dimensional painted scenarios designed specifically for photography, with each scene producing convincing visual illusions when photographed from a designated viewing position. The museum was originally founded in around 2018 by the German-Portuguese entrepreneur Lara Hein at a smaller earlier location on Rua Miguel Bombarda in the central Sao Sebastiao da Pedreira district of Lisbon. The original venue had operated successfully through the following seven years but had reached the limits of the available exhibition space, with the various visiting groups regularly exceeding the capacity of the small building. The decision to relocate was taken in late 2025. The new January 2026 location at Rua Duque de Palmela provides substantially more space than the original venue. The new building contains around five hundred square metres of dedicated exhibition space on the principal upper floor and a further two hundred and fifty square metres on the lower floor that is used principally for birthday parties, corporate team-building events and private group bookings. The relocated venue includes several entirely new exhibition installations developed specifically for the larger space. The principal exhibition consists of around forty individual three-dimensional painted scenarios, each providing a different visual illusion designed for photography from a specific designated viewpoint. The various individual scenes include classic optical illusions such as a giant shark emerging from the floor, a wizards laboratory with floating objects, a Jurassic dinosaur scene, an upside-down city street, a roller-coaster track suspended in mid-air and a wide range of supplementary themed scenarios covering Hollywood film references, contemporary popular culture and various abstract artistic compositions. The new scream room installed at the new January 2026 venue is one of the principal individual new highlights. The small soundproofed room provides a deliberate stress-release function for visitors and is calibrated to allow noise levels of up to around one hundred and twenty decibels without disturbing the wider exhibition. The museum is open seven days per week from ten in the morning until nineteen hundred, with advance reservations required for weekend, holiday and Portuguese school holiday visits.
