Vincent Hall Immersive Exhibitions

Vincent Hall is an immersive digital-art exhibition venue in the heart of the fifth district of Budapest, at Piarista koz 1, a short walk from the Danube riverfront and the Vaci utca shopping street. The venue specialises in large-scale immersive multimedia exhibitions that project the works of celebrated painters onto every surface of a darkened hall, surrounding visitors with the art at a cinematic scale, and has become one of the most popular indoor cultural attractions of the city centre. The principal exhibition is "Van Gogh: Immersive Exhibition from the Netherlands", a large-scale multimedia show that wraps the visitor in a 360-degree audiovisual environment built from the works of the Dutch post-impressionist painter Vincent van Gogh. Using high-resolution projectors, a large projection screen and an atmospheric musical soundtrack, the show brings more than 130 of Van Gogh's iconic paintings to life in motion - The Starry Night, the Sunflowers, the self-portraits and the landscapes - projected from floor to ceiling across every wall of the Lumiere Hall. The presentation reveals the brushstroke detail and painting technique of the works at a scale impossible in a conventional gallery, and traces the emotional arc of the painter's troubled life. The venue presents the Van Gogh show alongside two further immersive exhibitions in the same format - "Frida. Unbroken", devoted to the Mexican painter Frida Kahlo, and a Gustav Klimt experience - with a combined ticket allowing visitors to experience all three in a single visit, each session running around forty to forty-five minutes. The hall is fitted with movable seating including beanbags and chairs, encouraging visitors to sit or lie back and let the projected art wash over them. A giant illuminated moon installation outside the entrance has become a popular photographic draw. The venue is open every day from 10:00 to 21:00, with a daily technical break in the early afternoon and last entry at 20:00, and the exhibitions are presented in bilingual English and Hungarian sessions. The hall is wheelchair and stroller accessible, and is well suited to families, art lovers and visitors seeking an indoor cultural experience, particularly on a rainy afternoon. The central location makes it easy to combine with a wider exploration of the Inner City and the riverfront.
