Canalhouse Bar

Housed in a Grade II listed former canal warehouse, the Canalhouse is one of Nottingham's most distinctive pubs -- a stretch of canal actually runs through the inside of the building, complete with resident narrowboats and an arched footbridge. The warehouse was built in 1895 by the carrier Fellows, Morton and Clayton and later served as a canal museum before its conversion to a pub in the early 1980s. Run by the local Castle Rock Brewery, it is a long-standing fixture of Nottingham's craft-beer scene, with several cask lines, a large range of keg and bottled beers, real ciders and a daily food menu. A large canalside patio provides one of the city centre's better beer gardens, and a first-floor space is used for private functions. It sits on Canal Street in the city's canal conservation area, a short walk from the railway station.
