The Ferry

The Ferry is a permanently moored entertainment venue on the River Clyde at Anderston Quay in central Glasgow, housed aboard a former Renfrew chain ferry. Commissioned in 1952, the vessel was the last major passenger and vehicle carrier to cross the Clyde between Yoker and Renfrew, operating for some 32 years before the Clyde Tunnel and the Kingston Bridge made the crossing redundant. In 1989 the ferry found a new role as a multi-purpose entertainment venue, enhanced with a glass-and-steel atrium while retaining much of its original character; in 2005 it moved to its current berth at Anderston Quay as part of the city's river-regeneration programme. The two-level vessel now features several bars, a top-deck restaurant, a mezzanine overlooking the lower deck, and an open sun deck. Today The Ferry is best known for tribute nights celebrating acts such as Rod Stewart, Tina Turner, and Freddie Mercury, alongside live gigs, ceilidhs, and festive party nights. It also hosts weddings, corporate events, and private parties, offering pre-show dining and a distinctive riverside setting close to the city centre.
