Between The Bridges

On Queen's Walk on the South Bank of the Thames, between Westminster and Waterloo bridges and beside the London Eye, Between the Bridges is an open-air riverside venue that combines a beer garden, street food, and a busy events programme. Sitting next to Jubilee Gardens and within sight of the Southbank Centre, the BFI, and the London Eye, it trades heavily on one of the best skyline outlooks in central London. The site is laid out as a flexible mix of open-air and covered, heated areas, with several bars and a row of street-food traders supplying food and drink. It is divided into bookable breakout spaces - including areas known as The Garden, The Pier, The Dock, and The Knot - that allow it to scale from small group gatherings to full venue takeovers for as many as 2,000 guests, with The Pier able to operate as a self-contained event space. Entry is generally free, with a programme layered on top that runs from resident and guest DJs to themed club nights, drag brunches, live performances, and big-screen sports broadcasts. The venue operates seasonally, basking in its riverside terraces through the summer and converting into a roofed, winter-proofed space in the colder months, and it has hosted regular fixtures such as a monthly craft fair of London makers. Its future has not always been certain: organisers announced that the venue would close for 2026 so that works could take place on neighbouring Jubilee Gardens, before reversing the decision and reopening from late April 2026 for a season running through summer and into December. That flexibility, paired with the unbroken views over the river to the London Eye, has kept it a popular fixture of the South Bank. The stretch of the South Bank it occupies is one of London's busiest leisure riverfronts, shaped by the 1951 Festival of Britain and now home to the Southbank Centre, the BFI, the National Theatre, and the London Eye, with millions passing along Queen's Walk each year. Between the Bridges taps that footfall with a rotating line-up of independent street-food traders and bars, and reinvents itself seasonally, an open-air summer beer garden giving way to a covered, heated winter market with festive decorations. Its events lean on the after-work and weekend crowds drawn to the area, mixing free-entry DJ sessions with ticketed parties, screenings, and brunches against the backdrop of the river and the Eye.
