Drygate

Drygate Brewing Co is an experiential brewery, bar, restaurant and event space on Drygate in Dennistoun, just east of Glasgow city centre and close to the cathedral and Necropolis. Describing itself as the only microbrewery operating in the historic heart of Glasgow, it first brewed on the site in 2014 and combines working production with a public venue, so that visitors can drink and dine with a direct view into the brewhouse. The setup makes the brewing process part of the experience rather than something hidden away. The building has an industrial past of its own, having been constructed in 1964 as a box-assembly and screen-printing factory before later serving as a printworks, bottling plant and storage unit. The conversion deliberately played on these existing eccentricities, retaining traces of its previous lives and restoring the original seven peaks of its distinctive sawtooth roof, giving the venue a character rooted in its history. At ground level, the Bar and Kitchen seats around a hundred and twenty and pours from more than twenty rotating taps alongside a curated can and bottle selection, with bench seating, a pool table and table service. Upstairs, the first-floor Peaks Bar offers a further indoor space, while outdoor drinking is provided by a raised terrace and a ground-floor yard, the terrace marketed, with typical Glasgow humour, as one of the best beer gardens on the west coast. Drygate is also a flexible events venue. Its first-floor event space can hold several hundred standing and comes equipped with a stage, in-house PA and lighting rig, projector and screen, making it suitable for conferences, brand launches, dinners, awards ceremonies, weddings and live events. The adjacent beer hall can be hired alongside it as a breakout, catering or exhibition area during the week. By bringing brewing, dining, drinking and events together under one roof in a reclaimed industrial building, Drygate offers a distinctive destination that goes well beyond a standard brewery taproom. Its mix of open-door brewing, rotating beers and multifunctional spaces has made it a notable fixture of Glasgow's craft-beer and events scene.
