The Phoenix is a vibrant British pub and events space at 37 Cavendish Square in London's West End, tucked away just a couple of minutes from Oxford Circus and the bustle of Oxford Street. Presenting itself as a classic London boozer with a contemporary edge, it combines an inviting ground-floor pub with a versatile basement venue, offering a flexible night out in the heart of the city. At street level, the pub offers effortless British charm, with swanky booths, chandeliers and neon lights setting the scene for relaxed catch-ups over drinks and food. The bar is well stocked, boasting a large drinks range that includes around twenty-one draught beers and ciders alongside cocktails, while a menu of pub classics is served throughout the day, making it a convenient stop for shoppers, workers and visitors alike. Below the pub lies the air-conditioned basement, a multi-functional and history-packed space that the venue describes as one of London's best-kept secrets. With its own private bar and stage and a capacity of around two hundred, it provides a cooler alternative to more conventional venues, hosting long-running club nights, live music gigs and appearances by some of the biggest names from the world of comedy. This combination of a lively pub upstairs and a dedicated events room downstairs gives the Phoenix a varied and busy calendar. Regular programming takes in club nights, live music events and pub quizzes, while the basement is also available for private hire for everything from parties and conferences to business events, with the whole venue able to accommodate larger gatherings. By pairing a characterful British pub with a flexible underground events space in a prime central London location, the Phoenix offers something for a wide range of occasions. Its blend of quality drinks, all-day food and an eclectic entertainment programme has made it a dependable and distinctive choice close to one of the capital's busiest shopping districts.
