Built on newly repurposed land directly behind the Electric Ballroom on Kentish Town Road, Camden Courtyard opened in the summer of 2024 as an open-air space for drinking, dining and dancing in one of London's most music-soaked districts. The three-hundred-capacity courtyard is run by the team behind the neighbouring Electric Ballroom, the eighty-year-old stage that has hosted artists ranging from Prince and The Clash to Skrillex and Four Tet, and it was created to give Camden Town a rare outdoor venue in an area with surprisingly few places to gather under the open sky. The yard is framed by exposed brick walls and bright, colourful paintwork, and it is equipped with a high-specification Martin Audio sound system designed by the same talent responsible for festival stages at Gala. Street food traders work alongside a slushy cocktail bar, so guests can drift between a daytime party, a themed brunch and a late-afternoon DJ set without ever leaving the space, and the layout is built around an easy, festival-style flow. Programming leans heavily towards dance music and sound-system culture, with day parties, DJ sets, live performances and reggae and dub events such as the Channel One Sound System barbecues drawing dedicated crowds through the warmer months. Promoters and collectives from across the capital take over the courtyard for one-off shows, giving the calendar a constantly shifting character that reflects Camden's independent music heritage. The courtyard sits roughly two hundred metres from Camden Town Underground station and a short stroll from the stalls of Camden Market, placing it at the heart of one of the city's busiest nightlife and shopping quarters. Many events are strictly over-eighteens, with physical photo identification required on the door, and outdoor seating, a full bar and rotating food traders are available throughout the day. As a seasonal, weather-dependent space, the courtyard trades most intensively across spring and summer, when its open-air format and barbecue events come into their own. Conceived as the next chapter in the long-running Electric Ballroom story, it adds a flexible, daytime-to-late-night dimension to a corner of London long defined by its venues, markets and restless musical energy.
