Electric Bristol
click to manageKnown for years as SWX and, before that, the Syndicate, the Nelson Street venue in central Bristol was relaunched as Electric Bristol in April 2025 under Electric Group, the operator behind Electric Brixton and NX Newcastle. The rebrand brought major investment in stage production while preserving the building's distinctive ballroom layout and long-standing reputation for live music. The main room is an eighteen-hundred-capacity ballroom praised for its sightlines and acoustics, equipped with a state-of-the-art sound and lighting rig. Live gigs remain at the heart of the programme, with the venue continuing to host touring bands and emerging artists across rock, indie, pop and electronic styles. Alongside the live diary, Electric Bristol runs an eclectic programme of club nights in collaboration with promoters, brands and labels across a range of dance genres, complementing rather than replacing the concerts. Past and announced bookings have included the likes of Magdalena Bay, Waxahatchee, Blondshell and Nova Twins, as well as the Dot to Dot festival. As part of a growing independent operator, the venue benefits from a network of sister sites and an explicit commitment to keeping high-quality, artist-focused music spaces in city centres. Live shows typically run in the evening, with later club nights extending into the small hours on weekends. Centrally located on Nelson Street, within easy reach of Bristol's shopping streets and transport links, Electric Bristol sits among the cluster of bars and venues that define the city's nightlife. Building on a well-known address, it has reasserted its place as one of the South West's premier music destinations. Nelson Street itself has been transformed in recent years by large-scale street-art murals from the See No Evil project, giving the venue a striking, painted setting in the heart of the old city. As the South West outpost of the Electric Group, it ties Bristol into a national circuit of independently run music spaces stretching from Brixton to Newcastle.
