A sixteen-thousand-square-foot warehouse beside Aberdeen harbour, Harbourworks opened in September 2025 as a flexible pop-up events space unlike anything else in the city. Set on York Street a short walk from the beachfront, it can hold up to around two thousand people and was conceived to offer a scale of adaptable venue that the north-east had previously lacked. The space is deliberately multi-purpose, mixing indoor and outdoor seating, food vendors and a dedicated performance area within a colourful, vibrant warehouse fit-out. Across its calendar it has hosted electronic and live music nights, beer and food festivals and large-scale screenings, typically programmed across Fridays and Saturdays during its seasonal runs. Described by its founders as a potential game-changer for Aberdeen, the venue functions as the spiritual successor to the popular Bike Yard pop-up bars that ran on George Street in previous summers. Its harbour-side setting and large, reconfigurable footprint allow it to switch between gigs, festivals and community events with relative ease. The warehouse is wheelchair accessible with step-free entry and loading access for equipment and catering, and it has been used for major occasions such as large sports fan zones with big screens and food and drink vendors. As a temporary, permission-dependent venue, it has worked closely with the council on licensing, safety and noise as it establishes itself. Just half a mile from Aberdeen railway station and well served by buses, with nearby parking and the airport a short drive away, Harbourworks is conveniently placed for both locals and visitors. By offering a large, flexible blank canvas by the water, it has quickly become a notable addition to the city's events landscape. As a temporary, seasonal operation its presence varies with the calendar, but its arrival has been widely welcomed as a sign of fresh ambition for large-scale events in the north-east of Scotland.
