The Fillmore New Orleans
click to manageAn old-fashioned theatre marquee at the foot of Canal Street casts a red neon glow over the entrance to The Fillmore New Orleans, the city's outpost of Live Nation's storied Fillmore brand. The name harks back to the Fillmore East and Fillmore West, the venues run by promoter Bill Graham in the 1960s that helped launch the era's biggest acts, and the New Orleans room carries the brand's signature nostalgia, including the classic chandeliers. The venue opened in February 2019 on the long-unused second floor of what was then Harrah's casino, now Caesars New Orleans, taking up around 22,000 square feet with a capacity of roughly 2,200. Coheed and Cambria played the opening night after a planned debut by the Foo Fighters was postponed, and Duran Duran followed the next evening, setting the tone for a mid-sized room the touring circuit had previously lacked in the city. The design blends rock and elegance, mixing the Fillmore's vintage touches with local nods such as recycled wood, wrought iron and a large Louis Armstrong mural in the main lounge, alongside modern lighting and sound. A separate Canal Street entrance lets concertgoers aged eighteen and over reach the venue without passing through the casino floor, while a second entrance leads up from inside the building. Featuring several distinct spaces, from the spacious Music Hall to the more intimate BG's Lounge, the venue is built to handle both standing concerts and private events such as receptions and corporate functions, with full event production and custom catering. Its central location, less than a mile from the convention centre, made it an immediate fixture on the regional touring map. Since opening, it has hosted a diverse roster including Foo Fighters, Garbage, Willie Nelson and Ice Cube, quickly establishing itself as a key mid-sized stop in the Southeast. By reviving an evocative brand in a prime spot at the head of Canal Street, The Fillmore gave New Orleans a polished room sized between its clubs and its arenas.
