Opened in 2018 as the Verti Music Hall, the venue now known as the Uber Eats Music Hall is a flexible concert hall at the heart of a new entertainment quarter in Berlin's Friedrichshain district. It was built by the Anschutz Entertainment Group as the centrepiece of Mercedes-Platz, a more than 200-million-euro development beside the adjacent arena, which also includes a cinema, a bowling alley, hotels, restaurants and bars. The hall opened on 12 October 2018 with an almost sold-out concert by Jack White, and was designed to fill a gap in the city's venue landscape between clubs and large arenas. Its capacity is highly flexible, holding up to around 4,500 standing on an open floor or roughly 2,250 to 2,400 when seated, spread across four levels with spacious foyers and an outdoor terrace. Engineered for demanding productions, the room offers a rigging load capacity said to exceed that of most arenas, a ceiling height of nearly 17 metres and fast changeovers suited to touring shows. AEG expects to stage well over 100 events there each year, ranging from rock, pop and full-scale touring productions to conferences, award shows, esports events and corporate galas, with acoustics tuned for live music. In early 2024 the ride-hailing and delivery company Uber secured the naming rights, and the venue was rebranded the Uber Eats Music Hall on 22 March 2024, its surrounding plaza likewise renamed Uber-Platz. Sustainability has been part of its operation from the start, with green electricity and gas, LED lighting, plastic-free catering and reusable cups cleaned on site. Set among the restaurants, bars and hotels of its purpose-built quarter and well connected to public transport along the East Side Gallery, the hall combines the intimacy of a club with the technical capability of a multifunction arena. It has quickly become one of Berlin's key mid-sized rooms for international touring artists.
