UNIQLO Field at Dodger Stadium

The oldest ballpark in Major League Baseball west of the Mississippi River, Dodger Stadium has been the home of the Los Angeles Dodgers since it opened on 10 April 1962. Built in less than three years for around 23 million dollars in the Elysian Park neighbourhood, on land at Chavez Ravine, it is the third-oldest park in the majors after Fenway Park and Wrigley Field and the largest baseball stadium in the world by seating capacity. For its first four seasons it also served as home to the Los Angeles Angels before they moved to Anaheim, and the Dodgers have maintained an official capacity of 56,000 throughout its history, a figure tied to the conditional-use permit issued when it was built rather than an exact seat count. Often called a pitcher's ballpark, it has been the site of thirteen no-hitters, two of them perfect games. Renovations over the decades have repeatedly reshaped the seating, from the replacement of the original wooden seats to new field-level rows and an expanded Dugout Club, while the team has kept the round 56,000 number for permit compliance. A roughly 100-million-dollar project completed before the 2020 season added a two-acre centre-field plaza with bars, a children's play area, a Jackie Robinson statue and connecting escalators and elevators. In March 2026 the Dodgers announced a partnership with the Japanese apparel company Uniqlo to name the playing surface Uniqlo Field at Dodger Stadium, the first time in the park's history that a corporate sponsor had been attached to it. The stadium itself keeps its cherished name, with the field branding appearing on a large sign above the centre-field batter's eye and on signage along the baselines and beneath the press box. Renowned for its mountain backdrop, clean lines and meticulous upkeep, the ballpark is widely regarded as one of the most beautiful in the country. More than six decades after it opened, it remains a Los Angeles landmark and one of the marquee venues in American sport.
