P&J Live

Opened in 2019 to replace Aberdeen's ageing exhibition centre, P&J Live is the largest indoor arena in the north of Scotland, with a capacity ranging from around 5,000 up to 15,000 for the biggest shows. Part of The Event Complex Aberdeen, known as TECA, it sits at Stoneywood near Aberdeen International Airport, some six miles north-west of the city centre. The venue was built at a cost of around 333 million pounds and opened its doors on 10 August 2019, replacing the former Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre. Designed by the architects Keppie and constructed by the Robertson Group, it offers a flexible main arena that can be configured from a few thousand seats up to 15,000 standing, with an all-seated capacity of just over 10,000. Beyond the main arena, the complex includes three large exhibition halls, conference and meeting rooms, a restaurant, hospitality suites and a VIP lounge, along with two on-site hotels. That mix lets it host concerts, conferences, exhibitions and sporting events, often switching between configurations for different audiences. Since opening it has quickly become a key stop on the UK touring circuit. It welcomed 15,000 fans for a Gerry Cinnamon show shortly after opening, and a Lewis Capaldi concert in January 2023 was reported as Scotland's highest-selling indoor show, underlining its scale relative to the rest of the country. Owned by Aberdeen City Council and run by a global venue operator, P&J Live serves as a major economic and cultural asset for the region. Its modern facilities, large capacity and location beside the airport, with extensive parking and hotels, make it the north-east of Scotland's flagship events destination. The venue forms the centrepiece of a wider development that includes exhibition halls, hotels and an energy centre, conceived to draw conferences and events to the north-east of Scotland year-round. Its scale and modern facilities have allowed Aberdeen to attract touring productions and major artists that previously bypassed the city, and it has rapidly become the region's principal stage for large-scale entertainment and business events.
