Once a clothes shop on the edge of Sheffield's Castlegate, the venue now known as Panke Social has become an independent music venue, nightclub and events space with a strong do-it-yourself character. Sitting on Exchange Street with floor-to-ceiling views across the city, it was formerly called Bal Fashions before being taken over and rebranded under new ownership in 2024. The building gradually morphed from a retail shop into a hybrid bar, club and events space, in the mould of nearby independent spots such as Delicious Clam and Plot 22. Its compact, 150-capacity room is fitted with a recently refurbished four-point Martin Audio sound system and a cosy downstairs bar, and is prized for one of the best views from any club in the area.
