The Other Side occupies a converted bicycle workshop in the historic Houthavens district of Amsterdam, on Rigakade close to the city's western waterfront. It operates as a nightclub and events venue with a strong emphasis on sound, art and self-expression. The venue was founded by Doeshka Vrede and Jasper Lowik, who developed the project during the pandemic with the aim of building not just a club but a wider collective of artists, a music label and the events around them, opening the space in the early 2020s. Its defining feature is audio: The Other Side is among the first clubs in the world to install L-Acoustics L-ISA immersive spatial sound system, with a 14.1.5 setup in the main room designed to surround the audience in a 360-degree field. The building is divided into a main room holding around 900, a smaller 200-capacity space and an outdoor area for roughly a hundred, giving a total capacity of about 1,200 and the flexibility to run large productions and intimate sessions at once. Programming covers club nights and concerts alongside private and corporate functions and cultural events, with full in-house event production offered to clients drawn by the venue's technical capabilities and distinctive atmosphere.
