Wythall Community Club

Housed in a Georgian farmhouse within Wythall Park on the southern edge of Birmingham, Wythall Community Club is a family-friendly, not-for-profit private members' social club. Established in 1967, the club occupies an old farmhouse known as Wythall House, which retains original features including gilt ceilings, a stained-glass peacock window on the stairway and a glass-covered farm well. It forms part of a privately owned park of around 37 acres, maintained by volunteers of the Wythall Community Association, a registered charity whose roots go back to the 1940s. The club is divided into three areas, including a quieter adult lounge with a television, and is known for its bar serving CAMRA award-winning real ales alongside regular guest beers. A number of local clubs and societies are based at the venue, covering activities such as skittles, archery, chess and bowls, and the club hosts annual beer festivals. Function rooms are available to members for meetings, wedding receptions, birthdays and other celebrations, with space for gatherings of up to around 180 guests. Membership is open to people living in Wythall and the surrounding area, with associate membership giving access to the park, play area and dog-walking grounds. Combining a well-kept bar, function space and a busy programme of community activities within a historic building and parkland, the club serves as a social hub for the village and its neighbours. The wider Wythall Park complex includes football pitches, a children's play area, a community hall and dog-walking grounds, all maintained by volunteers for the benefit of members and the local community. The club's calendar runs from quiz nights and live entertainment to its annual beer festival, and its real-ale reputation has earned recognition from the local CAMRA branch. Set just outside Birmingham on the Worcestershire border, it functions as both a village social hub and a destination for ale enthusiasts from further afield.
