Three floors of the historic Bacchi Wapen premises at Jarntorget in Gamla Stan now house Bacchi Syre, a self-described "libertarian green meeting place" combining a plant-based cafe and restaurants with coworking desks, event stages and media studios. Behind it stands Syre Bar och Event, part of the media house Gron Press, which wanted a physical arena where the green, progressive causes it covers in print could be debated and worked on in person. The 870 square metres hold room for up to 300 people across performance and talk stages, meeting rooms, four bars, two restaurants and a studio equipped for livestreams and podcast recording. The kitchen and cafe are fully plant-based, serving sandwiches, soup, pastries and weekday lunches, with dinner service toward the weekend. The fit-out was done with an emphasis on reuse and ecological choices. Days are for "coffice" working over coffee in a green setting; evenings bring lectures, political conversations, comedy nights and cultural events, and the spaces can be hired for everything from small meetings to 300-person gatherings. The address on Jarntorgsgatan, steps from Jarntorget square, makes it one of the few venues of its kind in the old town.
