Indisk Nørregade

Indisk began in 2017 as a stall in the Aarhus Street Food market, founded by Neha and Prasad, a couple who grew up in Mumbai and came to Denmark to study. The homesick cooking - genuinely homemade Indian food rather than buffet standards - outgrew the stall and moved into its own restaurant at Norregade 38 in central Aarhus. The Norregade room serves at the table with a menu of Indian classics, thali platters and bowl-format dishes that travel well as takeaway; the whole place can be booked for private parties. Recent years have added a second identity: the space doubles as MitraKlub, a social board-gaming hub where guests play Catan, Wingspan or Ticket to Ride over curry, pitched at students, expats and locals building a social circle - membership brings food discounts, and themed evenings run through the season. Indian wine tastings and Diwali menus have featured on the calendar. Hours run Tuesday to Sunday from late afternoon into the evening, later on weekends, and the street-food original still trades in the market for the quick version. The address sits in the Latin Quarter's northern edge, a few minutes from the cathedral. The founders' story is the menu's guarantee: Neha and Prasad cook the food they missed from home, which is why the kitchen skips the flat one-sauce buffet formula that long defined Indian food in Denmark and instead builds each dish separately - dal simmered on its own, breads made to order, spice levels that assume the guest actually wants to taste them. The thali format gives first-timers the whole spread on one platter, while regulars tend to settle on a favourite curry and defend it. The room itself is compact and informal, with the board-game shelves of MitraKlub lining the walls, and the crowd mixes university students, Indian expats homesick for the real thing, and Aarhus locals who followed the stall from the street-food market.
