An industrial block west of Weston Road hides one of Toronto's busiest warehouse stages. 131 McCormack Street, in the Junction-area industrial strip south of St. Clair Avenue West, operates as the Black Creek Assembly - a venue run by Lands Black Creek Arts and Culture and dedicated, in its own words, to the creation and presentation of artistic works by a diverse range of artists. Film screenings, runway and fashion shows, and live music and dance performances share the big assembly room. The concert side has given the address its reputation: drone-metal titans Sunn O))), electronic acts like CHYL, Oppidan and MPH, comedy bookings such as Zack Fox and a rolling calendar of club nights have logged dozens of shows here, ticketed through Ticketmaster, AdmitONE and the promoters' own channels. The room is a true warehouse - high, raw and reconfigurable - which is exactly what the bass-heavy bookings want from it. The neighbourhood context is part of the story: the south side of McCormack Street is zoned employment-industrial, and the operators have been working through the city's Committee of Adjustment to formalise the entertainment use - a familiar arc for warehouse venues that outgrow their permits. Community access runs Monday to Wednesday evenings between the commercial bookings. It is rideshare territory late at night, and the crowd knows it; the tradeoff is a scale and volume tolerance no downtown room can match. For Toronto's promoters the room fills the slot the city keeps losing: a mid-size industrial space where experimental bookings - a drone-metal mass, an all-night techno bill, a fashion show with a live score - can happen without a theatre's seating chart or a club's curfew. That flexibility, plus the McCormack strip's tolerance for volume after dark, keeps the calendar dense even while the paperwork catches up.
