Wynn spent 120 million dollars to put every seat inside the show. The Awakening Theater at Wynn Las Vegas, 3131 Las Vegas Boulevard South, is the custom-built 360-degree home of Awakening, the resort's marquee production that premiered on 7 November 2022 after five years of development - replacing the long-running aquatic spectacle Le Reve in a theatre gutted and rebuilt for full theatre-in-the-round. The engineering is the headline: 1,600 seats ring a 60-foot prismatic stage of dichroic glass and embedded LED screens whose eight subsections rotate and rise, no seat sits more than 75 feet from centre, and every seat carries its own integrated speakers - 3,200 in all - driving the WynnSonic 3D audio system. The 80-minute show itself follows the reluctant hero IO through five worlds of illusion, dance, puppetry and music, narrated by Anthony Hopkins, written by comics author Kelly Sue DeConnick and scored by Brian Tyler, with Michael Curry - the puppet master of The Lion King - among the producing trio and more than 300 haute-couture-inspired costumes in motion. Performances run twice nightly, Tuesday through Saturday, at 7 and 9:30pm, with tickets from standard reserved through VIP tiers via the resort and Ticketmaster. The theatre sits within the Wynn's north wing amid the resort's restaurant row, and the room's in-the-round intimacy - a Vegas rarity at this budget - is the production's real special effect: the spectacle surrounds the audience rather than facing it. The theatre's lineage adds context: the same room housed Franco Dragone's aquatic epic Le Reve from the resort's 2005 opening - itself a theatre-in-the-round built around a million-gallon pool - so the space has only ever known circular staging, and the Awakening conversion drained the pool to install the mechanical stage decks. Wynn's bet on owned-and-operated spectacle rather than licensed franchises keeps the show exclusive to the property, and the production refreshes numbers periodically, a Vegas residency tradition for keeping locals in the return audience.
