Ballpark Village St. Louis

St. Louis built a second stadium of bars where the old stadium stood. Ballpark Village, across Clark Street from Busch Stadium, is the Cardinals' and Cordish Companies' 400-million-dollar entertainment district - the first master-planned development in the country built around a Major League ballpark, opened in March 2014 with a free Third Eye Blind concert and expanded ever since across seven downtown blocks. The heart of the operation is the year-round indoor plaza now branded FanDuel Sports Network Live!: a 20,000-square-foot marketplace under a 100-foot retractable glass roof - the largest of its kind in the country at opening - with a concert stage, a 40-foot LED screen that ranks among the Midwest's biggest, a 200-seat restaurant and VIP decks. The district counts five live performance stages in all, anchored by tenants that each carry their own following: the Budweiser Brew House with its stadium-view rooftop deck, Cardinals Nation with the team Hall of Fame and museum, PBR St. Louis - A Cowboy Bar with live bull riding, and Howl at the Moon's dueling pianos. Outside, Together Credit Union Plaza spreads 40,000 square feet of gathering space across the exact infield footprint of the demolished 1966 Busch Memorial Stadium - base positions marked with plaques - hosting watch parties, pre-game concerts, movie nights and festivals against the stadium wall. Phase two added the One Cardinal Way residential tower, the Live! by Loews hotel and office space, turning the game-day district into a true neighbourhood that draws over six million visitors and 150-plus programmed events a year. On a summer Friday with the Cardinals at home, the Clark Street corridor is simply the loudest square block in Missouri - and the concerts keep it working the other 284 days too. The rooftop decks deserve their own mention: Cardinals Nation's terrace and the Budweiser Brew House's Bud Deck offer direct sightlines into Busch Stadium itself - Wrigley-style ticketed viewing of live games from outside the park, an amenity no other MLB district replicated at this scale. Concert bookings on the FanDuel stage run from national country and rock tours to tribute nights and DJ parties, all under a roof that opens to the sky in twenty minutes when the forecast cooperates.
