Brooklyn Bowl

The venue survived a tornado and a pandemic before it ever opened a door. Brooklyn Bowl Nashville in the Germantown neighbourhood was set to debut on 13 March 2020: a tornado tore through North Nashville on 3 March - totaling buildings across the street while leaving the venue a broken window - and the coronavirus shutdown arrived the day before the VIP opening party. The building spent the lost year pioneering ticketed livestreams with Jason Isbell, Margo Price and Billy Strings before finally opening to live audiences on 25 June 2021 with two nights of Old Crow Medicine Show. The operation transplants Peter Shapiro's celebrated Williamsburg formula - live music, bowling and Blue Ribbon comfort food under one roof - into a purpose-built, LEED-certified, 40,000-square-foot building at 925 3rd Avenue North. The 1,200-capacity concert floor works under four giant disco balls with a d and b audiotechnik line array; nineteen hardwood bowling lanes run on two levels, their string-suspended pins silenced so frames continue straight through headline sets; four bars and the famous fried chicken cover the rest, with a patio overlooking third base at First Horizon Park, home of the Triple-A Nashville Sounds, next door. The booking spans the brand's trademark eclecticism - jam bands, indie rock, hip-hop, country and the genre-blurring middle where Nashville's session class lives - and the headliner-then-party rhythm is house policy: bands go on around 9:30, and the room keeps serving and bowling until closing at two, through what the crew calls the Disco Load-Out. Germantown's restaurant row and the ballpark crowd give the venue a built-in neighbourhood, and its upper level - nine lanes, seven private boxes, a dedicated bar and porch views - drives a private-event trade that keeps the building working days and off-nights alike. Third in the chain after Brooklyn and Las Vegas, the Nashville Bowl earned its opening twice over.
