Brooklyn Bowl Las Vegas

Brooklyn's bowling-alley-turned-concert-hall formula landed on the fifty-yard line of the Strip. Brooklyn Bowl Las Vegas opened on 8 March 2014 as a cornerstone of Caesars Entertainment's 550-million-dollar LINQ Promenade, at the base of the High Roller observation wheel at 3545 South Las Vegas Boulevard. Founders Peter Shapiro and Charley Ryan - whose 2009 Williamsburg original had just been ranked among the country's best music clubs by Rolling Stone - scaled the concept up dramatically: three levels and 80,000 square feet, making it one of the largest venues of its class in America, with Caesars funding the building, Madison Square Garden Entertainment investing, and a fifteen-year lease anchoring the partnership. The formula runs at full Vegas dimensions: a concert floor holding 2,000-plus with configurations up to around 2,500, 32 hardwood bowling lanes fronted by giant high-definition screens, six bars, two patios, top-level private lounge boxes, stage-adjacent luxury lanes, and Blue Ribbon's famous fried chicken - celebrated on Food Network - feeding the whole machine. The opening season set the booking tone with multi-night runs from Elvis Costello with The Roots, Jane's Addiction, Primus, Phil Lesh and Friends, The Avett Brothers and Steve Winwood. A decade on, the numbers tell the story: by its fifth anniversary the venue had hosted half a million showgoers across 900 concerts and 3,000 special events, with nearly five million frames bowled. The room fills the Strip's awkward middle - too big for clubs, too intimate for arenas - and its jam-band-friendly, multi-night booking DNA gives Las Vegas a venue personality it otherwise lacks. Standing alone rather than inside a casino, with the LINQ's restaurants and the High Roller overhead, Brooklyn Bowl remains what Shapiro built everywhere: a night out where the concert, the lanes and the fried chicken are all headliners.
