The 457.8-million-dollar, privately financed project by HOK and Snow Kreilich anchors a 32-acre campus - the largest urban professional sports district in the country - uniting stadium, team headquarters, practice facility and team store in one footprint, driven by a majority-female ownership group led by the Taylor family of Enterprise and World Wide Technology CEO Jim Kavanaugh. The 22,423-seat bowl was engineered for noise and intimacy: the pitch sits 40 feet below grade so concourses meet the street, no seat is far from the touchline, and a 3,000-strong safe-standing supporter end - with its own pub - drives the atmosphere. The stadium sold out its first season entirely, with 50,000 season-ticket deposits arriving in the first 24 hours they were offered, and the record crowd of 22,423 came for a US Open Cup tie in April 2023. City Flavor concessions showcase the city's barbecue, burger and Bosnian food scenes, and the site's history is honoured by Pillars of the Valley, a public artwork commemorating Mill Creek Valley, the Black neighbourhood of 20,000 razed in the 1950s. The name has travelled: planned as St. Louis City Stadium, branded Centene Stadium briefly in 2022, opened as CityPark, and renamed Energizer Park in 2025 under local battery giant Energizer Holdings. MLS Next Pro side St. Louis City 2 shares the building, and more than 200 private events a year - concerts, corporate gatherings, community festivals - generated over 168 million dollars of economic impact in the first season alone. With MetroLink at Union Station a block away, the stadium stitched a dead highway-scarred parcel back into downtown - the rare American stadium project that led a neighbourhood revival instead of following one.
