Emerald City Comedy Club at Broadway Center

When Duncan Trussell cut the ribbon on 24 April 2025, Capitol Hill got the largest dedicated comedy venue in Seattle. Emerald City Comedy Club at 210 Broadway East is the expanded reincarnation of Comedy/Bar, the scrappy room that opened in the same building as the city emerged from lockdown and quickly built a loyal following - and a brush with national controversy that only sharpened its profile. The upgrade was dramatic. Facing a rent increase that its 100-seat room could not sustain, the club took on two comedy-industry investors, absorbed the entire floor of the building - the address old-timers remember for the High Line dive bar, whose unlit neon arrow still hangs outside - and rebuilt as a 275-seat cabaret-style showroom. The new capacity was pitched squarely at comics who previously skipped straight to the Neptune or the Moore: Nicole Byer, Jay Pharoah, Leslie Jones, Trae Crowder and Stormy Daniels all appeared on early calendars. Programming runs the full club playbook: national headliners on weekend runs, weekly open mics, a "Seattle's Funniest" competition developing local talent, drag brunches and themed specials. The cabaret layout - tight tables, low ceiling, everyone close to the stage - is deliberately built for crowd work, and the club serves a full menu of appetizers, entrees and desserts with craft cocktails and local beers to the tables. The location gives it a genuine neighbourhood advantage: half a block from the Capitol Hill light-rail station on Broadway, in Seattle's densest nightlife district, so a show slots easily between dinner on the Hill and the bars afterwards. Together with Club Comedy on 15th Avenue, it has turned Capitol Hill into the city's stand-up centre of gravity. Shows are typically 21 and over with reserved-table ticketing; weekend headliners often play four or five sets across three nights. Street parking on Broadway is scarce - light rail or rideshare is the standard play - and the club's calendar posts well in advance, with the big names selling out the 275 seats quickly.
