Two of America's biggest festivals call this expanse of the Kentucky Exposition Center home: Louder Than Life, the nation's largest rock festival, and Bourbon and Beyond, its bourbon-and-music twin. The 2025 expansion transformed the site: the footprint doubled to 2.4 million square feet, shifting onto the paved lots around Freedom Hall for weather resilience - after a hurricane remnant washed out a 2024 festival day - with turf zones at the main stages, air-conditioned indoor merch and lounge space inside the Expo Center, and, uniquely, the Kentucky Kingdom amusement park folded into the festival grounds with rides free to ticket holders. The infrastructure explains the site's pull: the Expo Center is one of America's largest exhibition campuses, with thousands of parking spaces at the junction of Interstates 65 and 264, the airport across the road, and Freedom Hall - itself a storied concert arena - anchoring the grounds. Practical notes: festival season concentrates in September, single-day and weekend passes sell in tiers that reward early purchase, lawn-chair zones require a dedicated pass, and the economic footprint - over 33 million dollars a year for Louisville - keeps the city fully mobilised around the dates.
