The parent operation supplies the DNA: owner Randy Butler learned club management at Albuquerque's Laffs Comedy Caffe in the 1980s and opened the original Hyena's in downtown Fort Worth in December 1994. The Dallas room extended the brand east across the Metroplex, and the group has since added the intimate Red Room stage and an Albuquerque club to the family.
