Old Forester's Paristown Hall

A bourbon brand and a performing arts centre built a rock hall together. Old Forester's Paristown Hall, at 724 Brent Street in Louisville, opened on 23 July 2019 with a sold-out Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue show and gave the city the mid-sized venue it had been routing tours around. The partnership was strategic: Kentucky Performing Arts - operator of the Kentucky Center downtown - led the 12-million-dollar project with Old Forester as naming partner, anchoring a 33-million-dollar arts district reviving the Paristown Pointe neighbourhood where Germantown, the Highlands and downtown meet. The room fills a specific market gap: 28,000 square feet of standing-room space holding up to 2,000 - roughly double Headliners Music Hall, far below the Louisville Palace and Yum Center - built for acts that previously skipped the city entirely. The engineering respects the neighbours: a concrete-on-steel roof deck provides acoustic insulation for the residential streets around it, while the below-floodplain basement required rock anchors and hydrostatic design; a partial mezzanine adds elevated viewing over the open floor. The opening season set the register: Wu-Tang Clan, Interpol, Sleater-Kinney, Judah and the Lion and Drive-By Truckers all played the first months, and the adjacent Christy's Garden - a 5,000-capacity outdoor space with its own amphitheatre stage and projection wall - extends the campus in summer. Practical notes: the hall is general-admission standing with limited mezzanine rail space that goes first; the Paristown district's bars and the neighbouring cafe handle pre-show, and roughly 60 percent of ticket buyers travel from outside Louisville, so weekend hotel demand tracks the concert calendar. Christy's Garden earns its own billing: the adjacent green space carries a fully powered amphitheatre, outdoor bar, in-ground lighting and a giant projection screen mounted on the hall's flank, turning the side wall of the building into an open-air cinema on festival nights.
