Orleans Arena

It rose from a casino parking lot and opened with Brooks and Dunn. Orleans Arena, at the Orleans Hotel and Casino on 4500 West Tropicana Avenue in Las Vegas, debuted on 25 May 2003 with a country bill of Brooks and Dunn, Brad Paisley and Rascal Flatts, and has been the city's mid-size workhorse ever since. The 85-million-dollar build by Boyd Gaming's Coast Casinos was scaled deliberately: 9,500 for boxing, 8,921 for concerts, 7,773 for ice hockey - big enough for touring production, small enough that local sports too large for gyms but too small for the Thomas and Mack Center finally had a home. The tenant history maps Las Vegas's minor-league era: the ECHL's Las Vegas Wranglers held the ice from 2003 to 2014, the Gladiators played arena football, the Legends indoor soccer, and the AHL's Henderson Silver Knights bridged the 2021-22 season here while their own arena finished. The design punched above its class: luxury boxes, padded theatre-style seats and wraparound message boards drew comparisons to major-conference college arenas, and the building has hosted NCAA tournaments, PBR bull riding, Disney on Ice and boxing cards alongside its concert calendar. The location is the value proposition: a mile west of the Strip with the casino's parking garage attached and free, the arena skips the resort-corridor ticket premium while keeping headline country, rock, Latin and family shows on its calendar year-round. Practical notes: rideshare from Strip hotels runs minutes, the concourse food runs casino-priced rather than arena-priced, and sightlines were engineered for hockey - meaning end-stage concerts leave virtually every seat with a clean look at the stage. The building also carved out a niche as a graduation and tournament hall: UNLV commencements, high-school graduations, cheer and dance nationals and youth volleyball championships fill the calendar between concerts, keeping the arena busy across more than 200 event days a year.
