The factory made film reels for Hollywood's golden age; the venue now projects onto its own walls. ReelWorks Denver at 1399 35th Street in the RiNo Art District is an independent event and concert space inside a one-storey 1945 Goldberg Brothers factory, scaling from 150 guests to 3,500 across 22,000 square feet of reclaimed industrial floor plus outdoor space. The site's industrial lineage runs deeper: the Lindquist Cracker Company built a three-storey brick factory here in the 1890s, sold in the 1920s to Goldberg Brothers Tinners - then Colorado's second-largest employer behind Coors - whose plant burned in the 1940s and was rebuilt as the present structure, stamping steel and aluminium film reels into the 1970s. The EXDO Group bought the building in 1999 and opened it in the early 2000s as the EXDO Event Center - the name short for extended downtown, coined before the RiNo label stuck - which spent two decades hosting concerts, political rallies, drag shows, roller-skating nights, fetish balls and fundraisers beside the adjacent Tracks nightclub. The rebrand came on 17 June 2021 after a pandemic-era 250,000-dollar upgrade, the headline item a 3D projection-mapping system that can wash every wall in visuals; owner Andrew Feinstein pitched the new name as both homage to the reel-making past and a pivot toward immersive live music. The spec sheet reads accordingly: concert-grade audio, gigabit fiber networking, full in-house design staff, outside caterers welcome, and a location three blocks from the 38th and Blake commuter-rail station on the A Line to the airport. Programming now runs several live shows a week - DJs from GRiZ to Deep Dish have played the floor - alongside the corporate events, weddings, block parties and immersive art productions that keep a room this flexible booked year-round.
