Rio Showroom at Rio Las Vegas

The longest-running headliner residency in Las Vegas history lives in this building. The showroom complex at the Rio at 3700 West Flamingo Road - anchored by the 1,475-seat Penn and Teller Theater - has been the off-Strip resort's entertainment engine since the property opened on 15 January 1990 as the city's first all-suite hotel. Penn and Teller arrived in January 2001 after runs at Bally's and the MGM Grand, and never left: the comedy-magic duo broke the record for the longest-running headliners at a single Las Vegas venue in the mid-2010s and have extended through December 2029, taping their television series Fool Us on the same stage. The theater's scale rivals dedicated performing arts halls, and its television resume runs from The Price Is Right's 30th-anniversary special to Live with Regis and Kelly and Hell's Kitchen tapings. The building's other rooms carry their own history: Club Rio, billed on its 1995 opening as the first large nightclub inside a Las Vegas hotel, became Club 3121 - home to a twice-weekly Prince residency in 2007 - then the Crown Theater; the Masquerade Village level added a 286-seat theatre, and New York's Comedy Cellar opened its only outpost in the casino in 2018. Entertainment has always been in the resort's DNA - the 25-million-dollar Masquerade Show in the Sky ran parade floats on a 950-foot ceiling track above the casino floor from 1997 - and the property hosted the World Series of Poker from 2005 for nearly two decades. Now operated by Dreamscape following the Caesars era, the Rio's showrooms remain the reason many visitors cross Flamingo Road from the Strip: a headliner theatre, a comedy club and a concert room stacked inside one purple-and-red landmark. The Penn and Teller partnership runs deeper than tenancy: the duo's theatre was purpose-fitted for their show's blend of scale and close-up work, and their nightly post-show meet-and-greet in the lobby has become one of the last genuinely free traditions in Las Vegas entertainment.
