TPC Southwind, at 3325 Club at Southwind east-southeast of the city, is the PGA Tour's home in Tennessee. The private club opened in 1988, designed by Ron Prichard in consultation with tour pros Hubert Green and Fuzzy Zoeller, as a member of the Tour's Tournament Players Club network - sited practically next door to FedEx's world headquarters. The FedEx St. Jude Classic - the Memphis tour stop founded in 1958 - moved here from Colonial Country Club in 1989 and stayed three decades, its charitable engine benefiting St. Jude Children's Research Hospital throughout. The course's stature climbed with its events: the WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational brought a World Golf Championship to Memphis from 2019 to 2021, and since 2022 the FedEx St. Jude Championship has opened the FedEx Cup playoffs here each August. The 7,244-yard, par-70 layout is defined by water in play on more than half the holes, a closing stretch around the lake at 18 that has decided playoff berths on the final swing, and Al Geiberger's famous 59 - shot at the tournament's previous home but forever tied to the Memphis event. Renovations after the 2004 event modernized the agronomy and spectator infrastructure for the tournament build-out that now hosts the playoff field. The corporate campus next door is no coincidence: this is the course where America's shipping giant entertains the world once a year, with a children's hospital as the beneficiary. Tournament week transforms the gated community into a temporary city - hospitality villages along the water, a champions list running from Nick Faldo era winners to the playoff-age elite - and the event's St. Jude partnership has directed tens of millions of dollars to the Memphis hospital across the decades.
