Tulips FTW

The street outside was renamed for T Bone Burnett weeks before the lease was signed - the founder took it as an omen, and the omen held. Tulips FTW at 112 St. Louis Avenue in Fort Worth's Near Southside opened on November 20, 2020, in the former Collective Brewing Project brewpub. Fort Worth native Jason Suder built the 600-capacity room to fill the city's missing middle - the mid-size stage between bar gigs and arenas that had been sending west-metroplex audiences to Dallas for decades. The pandemic-era launch became part of the identity: the first sellout was 54 masked fans toasting champagne to Grady Spencer on New Year's Eve 2020, and the venue scaled up as the world reopened. The production spec outruns the size - a sound system built for outdoor festival throw, tuned by industry veteran Blake Barker - and the booking now lands touring acts from Europe, Australia, Mali and Mexico alongside Texas' own. The complex layers experiences: the main room, an indoor-outdoor patio, and the Low Doubt speakeasy bar for gatherings of forty, with private events from weddings to corporate nights running 150 to 500 guests. The venue plants itself deliberately in Fort Worth music history - the lineage of Ornette Coleman, Bob Wills, the Bluebird and Caravan of Dreams - pitching itself as the city's conversation partner to rooms like Washington's 9:30 Club and Seattle's Tractor Tavern. Five years in, the flag has held: the Near Southside brewery floor is now the address national tours mean when the poster says Fort Worth. The venue doubles as a Near Southside community hub - singer-songwriter residencies, vinyl markets, drag brunches and neighborhood fundraisers fill the daytime calendar - honoring the founding pledge that the room would belong to Fort Worth's whole creative scene, not just the touring schedule.
