Victory Hall at The Boxyard

A 1914 railroad warehouse two blocks from T-Mobile Park now swings between beer garden, concert floor and gala hall - sometimes in the same week. Victory Hall at The Boxyard, at 1201 1st Avenue South in Seattle's SoDo district, is the neighborhood's purpose-built pregame and events engine. The 9,500-square-foot interior hall keeps the bones on display: original brick walls, exposed wood beams and 18-foot ceilings under grand chandeliers, with folding NanaWall doors at the south end opening to a patio and the outdoor space called The Yard. Capacity scales with ambition - 500 for a seated dinner and 1,200 for receptions indoors, another 1,600 in The Yard, and around 2,800 standing for a combined buyout - with a 23-foot video screen and full house production for concerts, watch parties and corporate shows. The complex is a three-headed operation: Victory Hall shares the campus with Hatback Bar and Grille - its name a tip of the cap to Ken Griffey Jr. - and Steelheads Alley, the taproom honoring the 1946 Seattle Steelheads of the Negro Leagues, with beers brewed on site under Metier Brewing's Rodney Hines. On Mariners, Seahawks and Sounders game days the building runs as SoDo's seasonal beer garden, food trucks in The Yard and taps open; on off days the same floor hosts weddings, product launches and community celebrations, with catering by hospitality group Apicii. Public programming rounds out the calendar - concerts, comedy and large-scale watch parties that give the stadium district something it long lacked: a big flexible room within walking distance of 70,000 seats of professional sport. The formula is old Seattle made new - a century-old warehouse doing exactly what warehouses do best, holding whatever the city needs held, at whatever scale the night demands. The Steelheads naming is more than decor - putting a Negro Leagues club's story on the taps two blocks from the Mariners' park stitches a missing chapter of Seattle baseball into the district built to celebrate the sport.
