Acrisure Stadium

Acrisure Stadium, formerly known as Heinz Field from its 2001 opening until a 2022 naming-rights deal, is a 68,400-seat open-air stadium at 100 Art Rooney Avenue on the North Shore of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Home to the NFL's Pittsburgh Steelers and the University of Pittsburgh Panthers football programme, it replaced Three Rivers Stadium and opened on August 18, 2001, after breaking ground in June 1999 at a construction cost of approximately $281 million. The stadium occupies roughly 1.49 million square feet and features 129 luxury suites, 8,799 club seats, three club lounges (East, West, and North End), and a 28-by-96-foot Daktronics video board. The playing surface is natural Kentucky Bluegrass, installed in 2009 to replace the original grass. A 2015 expansion added approximately 3,000 seats, bringing the permanent capacity to its current 68,400. The all-time attendance record of 73,117 was set during Taylor Swift's Eras Tour on June 17, 2023. Beyond football, Acrisure Stadium hosts major concerts, international soccer matches, and community events. The venue is accessible via the Pittsburgh Light Rail Allegheny station. Parking is available in multiple zone lots surrounding the North Shore, and pre-booked passes are recommended. The Champions Parking Garage at 643 West General Robinson Street offers an additional option. The North Shore location provides sweeping views of downtown Pittsburgh, the Allegheny River, and the confluence of the three rivers. The stadium sits alongside PNC Park, home of the Pittsburgh Pirates, forming a concentrated sports and entertainment district that draws millions of visitors annually. The facility is owned by the Sports and Exhibition Authority of Pittsburgh and Allegheny County and was designed by Populous, then known as HOK Sport, with local architecture by WTW Architects.
