Arlington Music Hall

Opened on 10 February 1950 with Shirley Temple's The Story of Seabiscuit on the marquee, the Arlington Theater served as a movie house for nearly a quarter century before closing in August 1974. After a stint as a church, the building at 224 North Center Street in downtown Arlington, Texas was purchased in 1994 by Johnnie High, a country music promoter who relocated his long-running Country Music Revue to the space and renamed it Arlington Music Hall. High's weekly variety show became a launching pad for talent: LeAnn Rimes, Blake Shelton, Lee Ann Womack, Gary Morris, and Wanda Jackson all passed through before reaching national stardom. After High's death in 2010, the Revue continued briefly in his honour. Developer Burk Collins purchased the property in 2008 and invested more than $6 million in renovations that doubled the stage to 2,200 square feet and increased seating capacity to just over 1,000. In 2015, a group led by Fort Worth City Councilman Cary Moon acquired the complex, added further sound and lighting upgrades, and established a non-profit 501(c)(3) to promote year-round programming. Today the 730-seat auditorium features state-of-the-art production alongside the hall's original vintage marquee and classic decor. A 3,000-square-foot hospitality room with full-service bar and concessions opens before each performance. Arlington Music Hall is the permanent home of Symphony Arlington and hosts a diverse calendar of country, pop, rock, classical, comedy, and musical theatre throughout the year. Located in Arlington's state-designated Cultural District, between AT&T Stadium and UT Arlington, the venue sits amid a cluster of downtown restaurants that serve as natural pre-show and post-show dining destinations.
