BB&T Arena - MD

Completed in November 2011 on the campus of Hood College in Frederick, Maryland, this 1,600-seat arena was originally named BB&T Arena and was rebranded Woodsboro Bank Arena in 2024 following a five-year naming-rights agreement with a local Frederick County bank. The 41,000-square-foot facility anchors the Ronald J. Volpe Athletic Center and was designed by Zavos Architecture and Design with construction by Warner Construction, both Frederick-based firms. The arena serves as the home court for the Hood College Blazers men's and women's basketball and volleyball programmes, and since 2024 it has also hosted the Frederick Flying Cows, Maryland's first professional basketball team in more than twenty years, competing in the 94x50 League. An additional 500 floor-level seats can be installed for larger events, pushing capacity above 2,100. The playing surface was fully redone during the summer of 2022. Beyond athletics the building houses a two-level fitness centre and cardio room, an athletic training room, locker rooms, an athletic hall of fame recognition display, a concession area, and a hospitality and meeting room. Hood College athletic events carry free admission, while professional and special-event ticketing is handled separately. The venue sits at 601 Blazer Trail, accessible from Route 15 via the 7th Street exit. Parking is available behind the athletic centre and in marked campus lots, and downtown Frederick -- with its restaurants, breweries, and antique shops -- is a short drive east on 7th Street.
