The ballpark opened on 5 June 2012 as the centrepiece of a waterfront revitalisation project and replaced the ageing CanWest Global Park (now demolished). The stadium features natural grass, a covered grandstand behind home plate, open-air seating along the baselines, suite and club-level options, and a signature right-field party deck. Views from the upper concourse take in the Red River, the Esplanade Riel pedestrian bridge, and the Forks National Historic Site. The ballpark also hosts concerts, festivals, and community events outside the baseball season, taking advantage of its central downtown location and riverfront setting. The Goldeyes have been a fixture in Winnipeg's sports landscape since 1994, and the purpose-built stadium cemented the franchise's position as a summer entertainment anchor in the city.
