Formerly known as Wells Fargo Arena, Casey's Center is a 16,980-seat multi-purpose arena at 233 Center Street in downtown Des Moines, Iowa. Part of the Iowa Events Center complex alongside the EMC Expo Center and the Community Choice Convention Center, the arena opened on July 12, 2005, at a cost of 117 million dollars. It is owned by Polk County and professionally managed by Oak View Group. Three professional sports teams call Casey's Center home: the Iowa Wild of the AHL, the Iowa Wolves of the NBA G League, and the Iowa Barnstormers of the IFL. The arena also annually hosts the Iowa High School Boys State Wrestling and Girls State Basketball Tournaments and has served as a site for NCAA tournament games in men's basketball, women's basketball, wrestling, and women's volleyball. Concert programming consistently places Casey's Center among the top 100 venues worldwide by attendance. Paul McCartney performed the inaugural concert in 2005 and has returned twice since. Garth Brooks set the multi-show attendance record with six sold-out performances drawing 94,214 fans in 2016, and Eric Church holds the single-show mark at 16,187. Other artists who have played the arena include Elton John, Taylor Swift, Drake, Slipknot (performing their home-state anthem "Iowa"), The Rolling Stones, Coldplay, Foo Fighters, and Red Hot Chili Peppers. The arena features 630 club seats, a suite level with the Yuengling 1829 Tap House open to all ticket holders, and The Fort Restaurant overlooking the Des Moines River and the Iowa State Capitol. The arena is part of a broader Iowa Events Center campus with 1,300 on-site parking spots and another 10,000 available across downtown Des Moines. In January 2020, a naming rights agreement with Casey's General Stores rebranded the venue from Wells Fargo Arena to Casey's Center. The arena has been announced as a future site for the 2028 NCAA Division I Men's Basketball First and Second Rounds. Other recent programming includes UFC events, Disney On Ice, Monster Jam, the Harlem Globetrotters, and the Cinch World's Toughest Rodeo.
