Chapman Music Hall at Tulsa Performing Arts Center

Occupying half a city block in Tulsa's historic downtown, the Tulsa Performing Arts Center was designed by Minoru Yamasaki, architect of the former World Trade Center towers, and opened on March 19, 1977, with an inaugural concert featuring Ella Fitzgerald and the Tulsa Philharmonic. Chapman Music Hall is the largest of the centre's four theatres, seating 2,365 in continental-style arrangement with no interior aisles on the main floor. The hall is segmented into orchestra, mezzanine, and balcony levels. Named for civic leader Leta Chapman, whose donation alongside John H. Williams helped match a 1973 municipal bond issue, Chapman Music Hall has showcased world-renowned talents including Tony Bennett, Luciano Pavarotti, Norah Jones, Michael Buble, Kelly Clarkson, Mikhail Baryshnikov, Steve Martin, and Itzhak Perlman. Touring Broadway musicals such as The Lion King, Wicked, The Book of Mormon, Jersey Boys, Hamilton, and The Phantom of the Opera have played extended runs on its stage. A recent L-Acoustics K3i sound system retrofit by Brown Note Productions, specified by consultancy Schuler Shook, was completed with no disruption to the centre's schedule of more than 500 annual events. The upgrade eliminated the need for touring productions to bring supplementary audio rigs, saving presenters thousands of dollars per engagement. The Tulsa PAC complex also houses the 437-seat John H. Williams Theatre, the 300-seat Liddy Doenges Theatre, and the 200-seat Charles E. Norman Theatre. The PAC is owned by the City of Tulsa and regularly hosts events by 14 local performance groups. Tulsa Ballet, Tulsa Opera, Tulsa Symphony, and Celebrity Attractions (the Broadway series) are among its major resident clients. The venue is located at 110 East 2nd Street, Tulsa, OK 74103, with the box office reachable at 918-596-7110.
